FanFlex Logos

While interning at a music company called FanFlex, I was challenged with creating my own version of their flying pig mascot “Harvey.” They had many different iterations of Harvey, so I went with a more minimalist and modern look that is popular with logos. I also had the idea to make the wing resemble an “F” for “FanFlex.”

Process

My supervisors did not give me much creative direction initially, but they let me see the past Harvey mascots that interns made. The previous logos had more detail, so I wanted to try a more minimalist approach. Since FanFlex works with indie artists and sometimes has grungier aesthetics, I opted for a sharper design. I started by sketching on Procreate and then brought one initial sketch to Illustrator to vectorize it.

Process (cont.)

I made one version without a pupil, one with a pupil, and one with some texture. After receiving their feedback, I made the changes they suggested, including getting rid of the cutout in the cheek and making the pig rounder. They clarified they wanted a friendly-looking logo, so I made a rounder version of the original and a more circular one.

Rounder variations

Results

I made the final designs even rounder for a friendlier look. I tried three pupil positions, and they told me to keep them. I created different versions with their brand-specific pink, black, and white. This process helped me improve at making assets for a company.
